In this workshop, Photoshop guru and popular teacher Tim Grey will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to become a true master of Photoshop.
All too often photographers are self-taught and don’t develop the deep knowledge and confidence that are necessary to fully execute on your photographic vision.
This five-day workshop will start with an image review and critique session, helping all participants gain a better understanding of the motivations for a particular image and thus the best approach to actually optimizing that image. Tim will talk about some of his own photographs, and will address some of the thoughts that ultimately led to the final image. The critiques and discussion will occur in a group setting so all participants can benefit. As part of this process we will start to talk about the potential adjustments that might benefit each image.
With these thoughts in mind, Tim will then guide you through the types of adjustments that can help invoke the intended response in the viewer. Participants will gain a stronger understanding of how tonality, contrast, color, vibrancy, sharpness, special effects, and other factors influence the perception of the final image.
Techniques presented in detail will include everything Photoshop has to offer photographers: adjustment layers, retouching tools, selections, layer masks, special effects, and more. However, the emphasis will go beyond simply learning how to use these many tools and techniques, focusing on a true understanding how and when they should be used. You’ll improve your ability to open a new image and know exactly where to start, you’ll feel more confident in your ability to produce great results, and you’ll achieve greater satisfaction you’re your photographic images. Tim will also address any specific questions from participants, creating a dynamic and lively learning environment.
Throughout the workshop you’ll have time to work on your own images, with feedback and guidance from Tim. By the end of the week, you’ll have transformed some of your images into masterpieces you are proud of, with prints of those images to take home.
