Canon Explorer of Light, Hanson Fong joins us for a week of how people portrait photography. He will take us in studio and on-location to show you techniques and proper workflow for photographing family groups, engagement photographs, children and wedding portraits.

Every day we will work with models that range from a family of 5 in the studio, to a just married couple posing before their reception. He will also help you work hands-on with the models so that when you go home you are confident in how to light and pose each situation.

The main focus of the workshop is light. Once you understand how to see the light you will find it easier than ever to make some incredible images. You will learn on-camera flash and as situations change you will see how to use professional ProFoto studio lights as well.

The requirements for the students are 35mm Camera with lens and a flash strobe portfolio (for hanson to review, time permitting)

Schedule: (Subject to change)

Day one:

"Concept of Lighting"
- Broad and short lighting, glamor, hair light, edge lighting, metering technics and how to use a reflector. 

- Mask of Face and analyze Facial features.
- Basic Poses and Family grouping, A&B body types

Day two:

Family with Children. Models: Family mom, dad, 2 or 3 children. Ages 5 to 12.

Bright Light Session (outdoors) learning lighting with male and female models in an engagement setting.
Afternoon/Sunset: Family of 5 to 6 people. Formal grouping

Day three:

On location in a church setting with a bride and groom.

-Classic 10 poses, window lighting, and hi key bridal.

Day four:

-Flow Posing

-Lock and Key- teaches you how to look at the body

-IR black and white (LIGHT Workshops has about 3 IR Cameras you can share during this session)

- Sunset Shoot
